March
10, 2011
This morning, the Senate voted to pass out Senate
Substitute Bill 113 which guts all major provisions of Prop B.
Prop B, which was passed by the voters last November, provides important
protections for dogs housed in large commercial breeding establishments.
We have listed (left sidebar) the names of Senators who voted to pass this
"repeal" bill and those who opposed this effort to deny dogs humane
standards of care.
This bill now moves to the House which could vote on this attempt to reverse
Prop B as early as next week. We urge you to contact your State
Representative and urge him/her to vote against Senate Substitute 113 or any
other bill that weakens Prop B.
It does not look favorable in the House at this time and we urgently need
your help.
Senator Lamping
Urges Daughter Not to Give Up the Fight
Senator John Lamping, who
voted against the efforts to gut Prop B, gave a personal message to his
daughter Charlotte from the floor of the Senate during the vote this
morning. He urged her not to give up and to continue to fight to stop this
legislation even if it eventually passes and goes to the Governor. We
applaud Senator Lamping for this message and encourage you also to
continue the fight to preserve Prop B.
Thanks,
Bob Baker
