The Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation is a non-profit lobbying organization founded in 1990 to bring about protection for animals through legislative means and is the only such organization lobbying exclusively for animal welfare issues in Missouri. The group was instrumental in passing the Animal Care Facilities Act of 1992 and the citizen's ballot initiative that outlawed cockfighting in Missouri in 1998. The Alliance works with other humane organizations, agencies and individuals across the state toward enactment and strengthening of animal welfare laws.
